Helena

Dear Agony Aunt

Dear Agony Aunt, I am really in love with this guy from Athens but he doesn’t love me. We used to go out a while ago but now he is in love with my best friend. I tell him how much I still love him but it only seems to make him angry. What should I do to get his attention? Helena x

  1. By the sounds of it, you are worth a lot more then Demetrius. Hopefully he will come to his senses and realise what an amazing person you are, but if he doesnt, accept it and try to move on :) x (by Anon.)

  2. I think you should ask him out TOMOMORROW!
    And wear your best clothes.

  3. I love hermia she great she plays a great part (vicky)

  4. Do not act too brash, Helena. Men are like aliens, nobody can understand them. Women can use a certain power over men. Attraction. Play hard to get and he will come flying back. Do not tell him how you feel until he takes a step back from your friend and be there to comfort him with her rejection. Be his friend and it will progress from there. (by Anon.)

  5. Do feel passionate to have the attention of one man? Open your horizons, there are many more fish in the sea but if you that this is the love of your life, then there is nothing for you to do than pursue it. Hermia and use her as an prop to grab demetrius's attention. Go and find your man! (by Sky)

  6. Don't worry, just don't let him know that you're THAT desperate. Play cool and act as if you've moved on then when he keeps being rejected by your friend you can get his senses back by attracting and telling your friend to act ugly infront of him. So when he sees you're beautiful than your friend he will have NO chice but to get back to you. But I must WARN you that if he does that he will not be loving you for you, his love would be because of the way you LOOK rather than the way you ARE. And I believe that you are just as beautiful as an angel from the heaven above could be it's just that Demetrius doesn't have enough power to fight his blindness to look at your beauty! Lots of Love. Loves Demetrius

Introduction

I am Helena, a young Athenian woman who is in love with Demetrius, a man I have a history with. However, Demetrius is in love with my friend Hermia and so scorns my affections towards him. I am envious of Hermia and the love Demetrius has for her and so I continue to pursue him, even following him into the forest. I have little self confidence and therefore when both Lysander and Demetrius show their affection for me, I believe they are just mocking me and I blame Hermia for this sudden change of circumstance. Fortunately, Lysander gets his senses back and I am left with the love of Demetrius which I have so long desired.
